The Petronor refinery, with more than 40 years of activity, is the plant with the most capacity in the peninsula, and one of the most important in Europe. This refinery has begun a modernization plan, focused on increasing competitiveness on a national and international level. Known as the URF Project (Units for the Reduction of Fuel Oil or Coke Plant), it contemplates the adjustment of the refinery´s production structure for the reduction of fuel oil consumption, in line with the growing evolution in the demand of diesel oil, gasoline, and liquid gases. It also increases the supply guarantee of raw materials, given that it enables access to more abundant types of crudes, and a new solid product is obtained petroleum coke.
This new coke plant required to update numerous systems and infrastructures, in which ULMA Construcción has participated. With a variety of products and its own personnel, it successfully undertook the execution of structures, tanks, furnaces, valves, etc., in an environment where safety is a necessary requirement.
