Project : Saint Corentin Cathedral – Quimper

Saint Corentin Cathedral – Quimper

QUIMPER, France

The construction is a total height of 76 m, and is totally covered in scaffolding and requires quick and safe access. The objective of the work is to rebuild the cathedral’s façades where one of its faces was not able to correctly support the scaffolding, making it necessary to set up the support on a roof where it was not advisable. Additionally, visitor access to the inside of the building must be permitted while work is in progress.

Class 6 Brio Multidirectional Scaffolding was used. For the face where there was not an appropriate support for the scaffolding, this was solved by creating a scaffold that was suspended at a height of 36 m. From that height up, a metal profile tower was built inside the building to support the forces exerted on the scaffold up to the height of 76 m.

Vertical circulation was solved by installing an elevator reaching up to the height of 56 m. Access to the inside was protected by an access tunnel made of the same Brio material.
