Project :

Known as the Crystal Bank of America Tower, it covers a surface area of 200,000 m2 and stands 300 m tall. With its crystal design, the tower exhibits defined vertical lines that generate a building perspective that evolves with the movement of the sun and moon. The tower’s transparent crystal outer wall, which complements the building’s faceted crystal, is shaped so as to provide a building plan the faces south, thus, emphasizing its prominent relation with Bryant Park and permitting beautiful views from and toward the structure. This 55 story skyscraper office building is one of the most environmentally sensitive buildings in all the world as the following were used in its construction: recycled and recyclable materials, innovative energy saving technologies, residual water reuse system, heat storage unit, translucent insulated glass to make use of natural light, ground level air ventilation system and carbon monoxide sensors that will refresh the inside air when necessary.

In this construction, the use of the Automatic Climbing System from the pouring of the first drop of concrete in the subterranean building structure is worthy of special mention. Thanks to the Automatic Climbing System, productivity was increased since the accumulation of simultaneous tasks performed by different trade groups, all requiring extra time, was avoided.
Likewise, this system permits constructing the lift mechanisms and their platforms before placing formwork. These function as a lift tower until the elevators are at a sufficient height to begin lifting, and they are anchored to the structure walls previously erected.
