EXTENSION OF THE JORGE CHAVEZ AIRPORT
CALLAO, Peru
In February 2001, Lima Airport Partners (LAP) started working at the International Jorge Chávez Airport to turn it into one of the leading private airports in the area.
In October 2002, LAP and Overseas Bechtel Inc – Peru (OBI) carried out the whole project of redesigning and extending the airport for the 2003-2005 period. The most important parts of the project were:
- Final design and construction of the shopping area ‘Perú Plaza’ and the building for boarding and arrivals (Passenger Terminal).
- Modifications on the platforms and relocation of the airport operations
This project included modifying, extending and demolishing structures that already existed, as well as adapting and building temporary facilities for the airport to continue operating normally.
The safety and environmental systems of the project obtained a very high result in one of the audits that was carried out on the project.
The total amount invested in the project by Betchel-Cosapi was $104 million for the 2003-2005 period.
