Intermodal Station
ZARAGOZA, Spain
This large building has particularly high aesthetic and technical value, with the largest covered space without pillars in the whole of Spain. Another special project, whose roof structure is worth mentioning. It is 370 metres long and is made up of huge metal bow string arches, with 150 m distance and 14m deflection. These arches are separated by 43 m. The tension rod of each arch is supported by 4 vertical suspension cables. In the arches' lower tension rod lies the roof structure itself, which forms facets that are resolved with a pyramid-shaped structure.Another important aspect of the construction has been the foundation, where screens have been set up and anchored with 15 m post-stressed cables.ULMA Construcción was in charge of carrying out the east and west roads and the station halls.
